After Hours

On-Call Providers

The doctors take emergency calls from their homes after hours.

If you feel your child has an urgent issue after regular office hours that cannot wait until the office next opens, you have several options to get help:

If your insurance provides, call the after hours nurse advice line, usually located on the back of your child’s insurance card. They will advise you as to whether they feel your child should be seen.

Or

Take your child to a pediatric (preferred) urgent care center near you. We recommend Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta facilities, the closest of which is right off exit 13 of GA 400 in the North Forsyth area of Cumming. Feel free to go to their website for hours of operation and directions. If they are closed, we will often recommend Northeast GA Emergency Department in Gainesville, GA.

Or

If you’re not sure you need your child to be seen and have a question after hours, feel free to call our office and leave a message with our answering service. You will initially get a call back from the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Nurse Advice Line which is staffed with pediatric nurses, who utilize standardized information created by pediatric emergency physicians.

If your question has still not been answered or the nurse feels a provider would better serve you, your call will be forwarded to our Pediatrician or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner on call.

Emergencies

If an emergency should arise, please call 911.

Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions.
